The Boiler Room, Refrigeration Plant, Armour, September 2014

The giant boilers, once searing hot, were being ripped out one by one, by someone. They’re not buried under the rubble from the implosion. Below, here’s a boiler that was dragged a little ways before being abandoned. Above, the pipe that led to the other smokestack hung from the wall in the boiler room.

These holes hooked to now missing boilers, which led to the smokestacks, built in two phases.

The roof had started to collapse, and you can even see on the right the coal hoppers where augers brought coal automatically into the boilers. It must have been brutally hot in this room.

Pipes that presumable took steam to make refrigeration in the next room snake below the floor.

The boilers are a sight to behold, warped and rusted from intense heat and deterioration.

We then proceeded up to the catwalk up above the boilers.
